Our long-term success relies on strengthening local leadership and ensuring that communities take full ownership of the knowledge and practices introduced through our programs. Rather than implementing short-term interventions, Mali Dynamique works directly with farmers on their own land. Every participant develops and manages their own plot over a four-year training period, transforming it into a productive and resilient agroforestry system.

 

By working on their own land, farmers gain practical experience that is immediately relevant to their daily lives. Together we gradually introduce techniques that diversify production and restore soil health. Over time, these plots develop into rich systems with perennial vegetation such as trees and long-lasting crops, alongside seasonal crops. This approach ensures that farmers are not only producing annual harvests, but are also building a landscape that continues to provide food, shade, biodiversity, and income for many years to come.

 

A key goal of our program is independence. Throughout the four-year training, participants are encouraged to think beyond the program itself. We work with farmers to develop clear plans for what they want to achieve after the training ends. This includes guidance on maintaining their agroforestry systems, expanding their plots, improving soil fertility, and creating sustainable sources of income.

 

By the end of the program, farmers are equipped not only with practical agricultural knowledge, but also with the confidence and leadership skills needed to manage their land independently. Many graduates go on to share their knowledge with neighbors and other farmers in their community, helping sustainable practices spread organically.

 

Through this approach, Mali Dynamique is not only improving individual farms, we are supporting a long-term shift toward locally driven, resilient agricultural systems led by the communities themselves.
