Local Ownership for Lasting Change

Building Local Ownership

Our long-term success relies on handing the reins to local leaders. Each cohort is designed to gradually transfer knowledge, responsibility, and agency to community-based facilitators.

Capacity Building at Every Level

From hands-on training to leadership mentoring, we’re developing local capabilities in agriculture, project management, and community coordination.

Designed for Longevity

Through income-generating micro-initiatives (like off-season market gardens, seedling sales or compost production), we lay the groundwork for financial self-reliance — reducing dependency on external support.

The Pivotal Moment

“When it rains, it floods us.

When the sun shines, it burns us.

It wasn't like this when I was small.

It's as if God is angry at us.

They tell us to plant trees. But how? Where?"
Sarata B., Mali

My close friend of 25+ years. A strong, hard-working woman. And yet feeling so helpless and desperate. I knew I had to take action.

That moment crystallized the urgency. It's more than climate change; it is about people like Sarata.

Tamara, Co-Founder Mali Dynamique

Sarata's observations are, of course, consistent with official data:

  • Deforestation rate: Mali loses ~100,000 hectares of forest annually

  • Desertification: 65% of Mali's land is degraded or at risk of degradation

  • Sahara expansion: Desert advances 48km south annually in some areas

  • Soil degradation: 74% of agricultural land shows signs of nutrient depletion

Testimonials

"I thank Association Mali Dynamique for these training modules on sustainable gardening for market and family use. Now we know that the choice of garden crops should not depend on a single man but on the whole family to diversify our production and increase our income.”
